Still - Ambient Jam

video upload by Analog Monoxide

"Relaxing with the mini-skiff, OP1+Microcosm and Seaboard and playing a little tune.
Good speakers or headphones capable of delivering bass recommended."

An afternoon with the Prophet Rev2 (basic patch design, making a pad)

video upload by Analog Monoxide

"Some of my most viewed videos have been the ones I did with the Rev2, so today I figured I'd do a video for those of you expressed interest, or who maybe are new to synthesis and want some ideas for making pads.

No preparation, just sitting down with the Rev2 and making a patch, and talking a bit about it.
Starting with some basics, but these are often the first things I play around with, when doing a new patch.

If you're one of the people who liked the videos where I talked about my patches, this one's for you.

First time I try setup like this with skycam, so learned a few things not to do next time.
But whatever, rather than scrapping the whole thing - here it is."

Noise Box Go Boom (Erica Synths Perkons HD-01 Jam)

video upload by Analog Monoxide

"I've just spent a few hours with it yet, arrived earlier today.
Requires a bit of time and work to develop motor memory, but couldn't resist doing a little jam. Awesome machine, super fun."

What is working with the Erica Synths Perkons HD-01 like? (demo and opinion)

video upload by Analog Monoxide

"I had my eye on this machine since it was unveiled, and I know I'm not the only one.
It's been getting a lot of hype, and there's some videos of banging sets, and videos talking through a script, breaking down every button and function.

But what is it like to own this machine, and have it in front of you, working with it, as opposed to watching someone on YouTube?

Mostly, I just make music and video because that's what I enjoy.
When I do a video on gear, I only talk about gear I genuinely enjoy, and I like to focus more on providing information, teaching, or stimulating creativity, rather than just feeding into the GAS algorithm to drive sales.

0:00 - Intro jam
6:00 - Impressions after the first days
10:00 - IDM beat from scratch
18:16 - More thoughts on workflow
19:30 - Techno from scratch
22:40 - Summary
25:00 - My cat hates it

This is my machine, bought at retail price.
My aim is to try cover some of the stuff I thought was a bit unclear from watching other videos.
I'll be jamming a bit on it, and giving some of my thoughts in this video.

I just got this machine yesterday, so I'm still memorizing some of the workflow.
To answer one of my own questions from this video: To delete a certain parameter from a pattern, while in record mode just hold down "clear" and wiggle the respective knob.
Very intuitive, really, just didn't occur to me while I was recording.

Talking about stuff VS just doing it, are two different things :)
I'm still getting used to it.

Hope this video is helpful for some of you."

Internal Dialog of a Homesick Space Whale - Seaboard rise improvisation

Published on Sep 24, 2018 Analog Monoxide

"Experimenting with video synthesis, editing and layering, etc.
The music is a simple sleepy improvised little tune performed on the Seaboard Rise49 and Cypher2. If you notice the shadow of the hand here, that's the original video layered behind the one that was processed and manipulated with the video synth. The output video didn't run at the same speed as the original, and when I matched them back up, this is the result. It kinda flutters, slows down and catches up."

OP-1 Ambient improvisation and summer images from the Norwegian West coast.

Published on Sep 10, 2018 Analog Monoxide

"It's the last days of summer here in Norway, and we decided to spend a day sitting by the sea.

I set up on a rock with my OP-1 and field recorder, pointed the camera where I planned to sit, and just kinda hoped I'd actually get something in the frame. Since I sat right next to the sea I misjudged a little the volumes and the OP-1 is a bit loud. Something to keep in mind for the next time I want to record a synth and the ocean next to me at the same time.

I got this little jam, and some video with a GoPro, and edited it together with video from my friends DSLR and drone, to share the scenery and moment with you. Enjoy :)"

Having fun making some patches on the Rev2.

Published on Dec 5, 2017 Analog Monoxide

"Not really a review or a demo, there's enough of those - and to be honest I often think the patches don't do it justice. But of course - that might just be my preference/taste.

So I'm just having fun making patches on the Rev2, and some improvised playing, and added some silly/hopefully informative comments underway, as well as a few thoughts on the instrument."

Seaboard Rise - Dramatic randomness of proportionally dramatic proportions.

"I love playing dramatic things on the Seaboard, and imagining that I'm scoring a movie scene or a BBC crime series ^_^"

Squishy Epic (Seaboard Rise / Strobe 2 performance)

Published on May 9, 2017 Analog Monoxide

"Having fun with the Seaboard Rise and Strobe2.
This is one of the epic MPE presets from Roli for Strobe 2, that I tweaked a little.

No idea why audio/video goes out of sync - I have to check the new software I started using for recording.
Sorry about that :|"

RTFM Rocker - Live Jam on Elektron Analog Keys, Analog Rytm and Monomachine

Published on Sep 7, 2016 Analog Monoxide

"I been programming synths, and RTFM for 14 hours, except for a few breaks and a trip to the store.
So rounding off with just jamming out a bit on the machines for today.

It's a jam so it is a bit long, the finalized version will be shorter.
Normally the Octatrack would be in the center of the setup, and I'd use it to tie things together into longer sets that transition, but it's been having a short vacation in Sweden, and will be back tomorrow.
So this is just jamming out a new tune with the other boxes :)
Hope you enjoy!"
